How to grow pea shoots and other microgreens (mustard seeds and other peas)?

pea shoots indoor soiless

We know that it is fun and healthy to grow your own veggies. But the idea here is to make it Easy and Cheap.

Watch my video on YouTube "grow pea shoots indoor easy with no soil"

The seeds I choose (whole green peas, lentils, mustard seeds and any other peas) are very inexpensive (about $1-1.5 per pound), you can find them in any grocery store as food.  You only need 1-1.5 ounce peas to grow a tray of fresh pea-shoots in less than 2 weeks.

I use two layers of trays, so that I only need to add water to lower tray every 4-7 days, but the tissue paper could continuously suck water and keep the upper tray damp but not soggy. You can buy professional trays, or just use any disposable food container with lid as the two layers.

What you need?

Step1: Soak seeds in plenty of water for 12-24 hours (change water every 6-12 hours), then pick and throw any seed that is not whole or does not sprout.

Step2: Put tissue paper on the upper tray, leave one side of paper long enough to tuck into lower tray

Step3: Spread the soaked seeds as one layer with some space between

Step4: Pour water into lower tray (make sure part of the paper reach into water)

Step5: Leave it grow for 5-7 days. Again pick and throw any seed not grow well (otherwise it will get spoiled).

Step6: Add water once the lower tray is dry

Step7: Put it under light (TheSonWorks LED light or sunlight) 10 hours each day for 5-7 days

Step8: Cut them and eat (fresh or cooked, I like to add to salad or soup)

For other microgreens, almost same method, just not to soak seeds for that long (small peas or lentils need 8 hours of soaking, mustard seeds don’t need soaking at all)
